Welcome to the C.P. Smith Elementary School located on Ethan Allen Parkway in the New North End of beautiful Burlington, Vermont. We are an elementary school serving approximately 275 students in kindergarten through grade 5. At the C.P. Smith Elementary School students, faculty and staff members, and families work together to create and cultivate a learning community that is safe, respectful and responsible for all.
Located in an area steeped in history and natural wonder we have adopted a focus on nature-based and wellness education that engages students in learning through authentic, project-based learning, outdoor experiences, and connections to the community, both locally and globally. This allows students to meet high academic standards while learning about and caring for themselves, each other, and our environment. Our school yard gardens and orchard, and our proximity to the Ethan Allen Homestead and Park, Burlington’s Intervale Community Farm, Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains provide unique opportunities for place-based study and rich STEAM study. We are committed to building community partnerships to help enrich and enhance educational opportunities and learning experiences for our students.
We are very proud of our students and school. Like our namesake Charles P. Smith II we value education, community service and integrity. As principal of the C.P. Smith Elementary School I am proud of the efforts put in each day by our faculty and staff to support the Burlington School District vision of cultivating caring, creative and courageous people. Join the journey at C.P. Smith Elementary School!
